• "This is what is left of what use to be a main stop for riders on their
way to the Catskills in New York. I remember riding by on my bicycle many years ago, before I had a motorcycle, and seeing the entire place lined up with motorcycles and wishing one of them was mine. The place was called the Red Apple Rest but I wonder how many would recognize it now. - Rod Quiros of Suffern, N.Y.
• "My nephew, Jeremy Christen, at St. Joe State ORV Park in Park Hills, Mo. I've been riding 40 years and the grin on this kid's face reminded me of what off-road riding is about. No cool gear or fully prepped bike needed for fun! " - Jeff Henderson of Collinsville, Ill.
• Brit Iron Rebels Arizona Clan at Dots Diner in Bisbee, Ariz. -Jeff Holmes of Gilbert, Ariz.
• "This photo was taken at the World Minis in Las Vegas. The owner of this transport vehicle was from Florida. He was on the way to the World Minis from Florida when his motor home broke down somewhere between Florida and Nevada. He had it towed to the local junk yard and traded it for this custom transport vehicle so he could get his kids to the world minis. Where there is a will there is a way. His kids did well in their classes with top three finishes." - Blake Lawson of Dixon, Calif.
• Taken on Route 100 in the Green Mountains of Vermont this past August. On a classic hazy, hot and humid, summer days ride through rural Vermont on my 04 Road King Classic.
"Old BMW was perched on a rock in a field across from a BMW repair shop, if you want to call it that. It was more like an old barn attached to an antique farmouse in the middle of nowhere. Not sure who owned the teepee. On of those days during our short New England summers that has you wanting to ride all day. I put in over 350 miles and could have gone on forever." - Dominic J. Ilacqua of Wallingford, Conn.
• "Seven close friends posing for a picture on a V-Strom." - Jeff Mitchell of Mount Laurel, N.J.
• "Trisha and I got married on Lake Tahoe on 9/26/2009. After the ceremony several of our group requested a photo on our bike to send to the club. We are active members of STAR chapter 306 in Salem, OR. Just goes to show that motorcyclying is even cool at weddings. - Steven Smith of Lebanon, Ore.
• "This is a shot of my scoot ('07 HD XL883C) in front of the old carousel house on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, N.J. While this area has suffered greatly over the last 20 years, its great to see it benefiting from its current resurgence. I grew up here and as a kid I would spend countless days here during the summers." - Nate Rudy of Elberon, N.J.
• Ken Downs of Redding, Calif.
• "Three of us from the Cleveland area went on a 'bucket run' and took a picture of our steeds in the bucket! The roads in the area rival any of the best motorcycling roads for sport riding. Always a fun outing." - Steve Tabler of Berea, Ohio
• Omar Fernandez of Cudjoe Key, Fla.
• "The picture shows the after affect of my great-nephew learing how to ride in his Fremont, Calif., home backyard ...(helmet was worn)." - Arnold van Kempen Jr. of Hayward, Calif.

• "I ran across this scene while riding through Cambria County in Pennsylvania." - Ed Day f State College, Pa.
• "I got this picture of myself last month with one of the locals in Krumholz, Czech Republic -- a beautiful old fortress town just down the road from Budweis -- during an Edelweiss tour. He was agreeable but not very talkative." - Bob Fiesser of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

• "The story is the tale of the three motorcycles and the coast-to-coast trips on each of them. They have been life changing events: The first - coast-to-coast trip, in 1972, was on a 1972 Yamaha 650 XS-2. At left is a 1972 Yamaha 650 XS-2 identical to the one I rode from coast-to-coast. In the spring of 1972, the ride left Chicago area to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., then to San Francisco. I ended up staying on the west coast for 16 years.

The last - coast-to-coast trip, in 2005, was done on my first BMW. While living in California, I bought a new 1985 K100RT (the center motorcycle). After traveling around the western United States, I married and moved to Minneapolis. Again, in the spring, 2005, I rolled the K100RT out of winter storage and took a three week trip from Minneapolis, to Fort Worth Texas, to San Diego and San Francisco up the Pacific Coast Highway, back to Texas and over Great Smokey Mountains and all the way to the Atlantic Ocean again. From the Atlantic Ocean, I rode back to Minneapolis, covering 8,000 miles in three weeks of travel. The BMW finished the trip with 111,000 miles on the ticker.

The next – coast-to-coast trip is in the planning stages. After returning from the trip in 2005, my mechanic at Moon Motors BMW advised the K100RT needed some work. The estimate was large and Brian, the Service Manager found a very clean 1999 BMW R1100RT with very few miles. To my surprise, my wife offered to buy it for me. Afterward, she “fessed up” that I could pay her back with my MSF instructor income. Well, that was in 2005 and when asked if I have it paid off yet, her response is always, 'Almost.'” - Phil Holbo of Minneapolis
